Seringkali cikgu akan membuat kertas kerja bagi mencari solusi dana dan kewangan untuk projek, kem dan pelbagai lagi aktiviti untuk kebaikan pengajaran dan pembelajaran. 100% Project ini sudah dilancarkan pada 19 Oktober yang lalu dan dalam tempoh sehingga hari ini, sudah terdapat beberapa kelas yang dibayai sepenuhnya. Secara tidak langsung, ini dapat membantu para guru menjayakan sebarang aktiviti pendidikan mereka di sekolah.

 

Sehingga kini, masih ada kelas yang memerlukan bantuan dari sudut dana kewangan bagi beberapa projek pendidikan mereka di sekolah.

CikguIK.com :  How does 100%project started?

Amelia Tan : 100% Project started when I realised during my school visits (which are part of my job as a fundraiser in Teach For Malaysia) that classrooms were not conducive for learning and that many teachers had to spend their own money on teaching materials and tools.

I had a discussion with Andrew, whom I worked with on a fundraising campaign for Teach For Malaysia, #RedCampaign (redcampaign.my) and we decided to create a crowdfunding platform to connect Malaysians to classroom in need so that teachers have the resources needed to provide the best learning experience for their students.

Later on, we convinced Karthik who was a Fellow under the Teach For Malaysia programme to join us as a co-founder and lead Programme and Impact Delivery under 100% Project.

 

 

CikguIK.com :  What is the flow for a teacher to get crowdfunding from the site?

Amelia Tan :  Currently, we are receiving registration of interest for our 2nd fundraising cycle in 15 January 2016. Teachers will have to go on www.100percentproject.org > click on Start a project > click on Register your interest > fill up Google Form with basic details of their projects.

Our team will be reviewing these project submission based on need/urgency and will select 22 projects to be featured in our 2nd fundraising cycle. Other projects will be put in a queue for the 3rd and 4th fundraising cycle.

 

 

CikguIK.com : Is it just for a school teacher or can anyone start the crowdfunding?

Amelia Tan :  This platform is only for public school teachers (primary or secondary). If any individuals who is passionate about education wants to start a project for students, they can pair up with a teacher from a school to do this.

This is because we believe that teachers are the leaders of the community and knows best the needs of their students.

 

 

CikguIK.com : What kind of project that can be approve to be listed on 100%project?

Amelia Tan :  Projects submitted to 100% Project must fit our 3 categories:

1. Conducive learning – Basic tools and materials to provide a conducive learning environment i.e books, tables, chairs, projector, marker pens etc.
2. Innovative teaching – Fun and engaging classroom projects, anything within or out of the school syllabus i.e career workshops, coding class, design thinking class, English corner, Mathematics lab etc
3. Exposure & Exploration – Education field trips such as trips to Malacca, Petrosains, Kidszania etc

CikguIK.com :  What is your hope or comment about this project?

Amelia Tan :  We hope to empower teachers to provide the best learning experience for their students. We believe that empowered teachers can be the leaders of their community and create change in their classroom and beyond. We have met and spoken to so many passionate teachers and have been inspired by the things they have given to their students, despite limited resources.

We think these teachers are our unsung heroes and we want to share their stories with the rest of Malaysia so that one day, the teaching profession will once again be a deeply respected profession as it should be.
